ODPC - One Delphi Per Child

Ok, I just made that up.  But that is the crux of the 1 million seat licensing deal just closed with the Russian Federal Agency of Education.  Infoworld also has an article about the deal right here.  A whole new generation of Delphi developers are now in the making!

  1. pretty sweet deal, do they not know that MS express tools are free?

I wonder how many of those developers will use "Delphi" as we used to know it (not PHP and the new stuff)

  2. Incredible. I know that the Russian developers have always been very active with Delphi. I'm glad that this can continue.

  3. @Andrew
I have a number of friends from Eastern Europe countries Belarus and Ukraine. Nearly everyone has been using Delphi for one thing or another during their university study.

Congrats to CodeGear!! Maybe it is time to think of moving more resources to high growth markets outside of the US...

  5. At the end of 90th Delphi used by almost 60% of ex-USSR developers.
In addition, you should know that Adobe spread the same amount of licenses in the same federal program, and many others (WinRAR and so on).
However, living here I'm sceptical a few about results, because Russian Federal Agency of Education action isn't looks like "the deep and whole" roadmap. :-(

  7. 1 000 000 installations with the current installer? It better be fixed real soon - it's too fragile for computer lab environments.

  9. 1.000.000 * 4 * 60 * 60 makes an incredeble 14.400.000.000 seconds of Russian educational improductivity ;-)

Seems the old communists are on the ruther again, indeed..

  10. Will we see another cold war between Russian Delphi armies and Microsoft western ones? Well, the last one saw the victory of the latter ;)

Like old Turbo Pascal using in school and university is now replace by MS product. Make more community power using Excellent Delphi product. :D
