Delphi 8 Update 3 now available

It is listed as a “public beta” for now.  It is available by following this link to the Borland Developer Network.  Be sure to read the article as this is a breaking DCU change, which means that if you have components for D8 for which you have no source, you will need to go back to the supplier to get an updated set of binaries.

  1. I have update 3 installed, but keep getting the error message "never-build package 'system' must be recompiled" whenever I try and compile anything (even new applications with no controls on the form). I've even forced it to remake the ducil files, but nothing seems to work. Reinstalling from scratch doesn't seem to do anything either (I'm using win2000 btw). Any Ideas? - I'm getting really desparate now...

The reason for the error is that your project folder has the old System.dcpil. Clear all the dcuil and dcpil from your project and then build the project again. That should solve the issue.

But I do not know why Borland is calling the update a "beta" update. It sounds scary to me.

Do U guys really think that Borland would come up with a "non beta" update soon???
